1972 was a banner year for the Grateful Dead, as the band was at the peak of its ability to combine psychedelic jamming with legitimate and impressive songwriting. The shows the Dead was playing throughout that whole year were truly remarkable, including the set from the Baltimore Civic Center on this day 50 years ago.
The whole show rips from front to back, but the stand-out moment is certainly the 32:02 written next to “The Other One”. This is an out-of-this-world celebration of psychedelia, and we’re all invited along to ride the bus. It’s times like these that we’re thankful for tapers like Carly Wolfson and the DeadLists Project, enabling us to listen to full audio from what was just another night on the road, so many years ago.
