Today marks the final day of the 2017 Jazz Fest season, and it’s safe to say that those in New Orleans have enjoyed a truly incredible 10 days of some of the best music the world has to offer. After a slew of memorable events during the “daze between,” including the bayou vibes of this week’s NOLA Crawfish Fest and the once-in-a-lifetime Daze Between Band celebration featuring Eric KrasnoOteil BurbridgeDuane Trucks, Warren Haynes and many more, Fest’s final weekend has brought some of its best shows yet.

On Friday, in addition to  The New Mastersounds hit the Joy Theatre and welcomed special guests including Shira Elias (Turkuaz) and Alan Evans (Soulive).

On Saturday night, the spirit of the Grateful Dead was alive and well in New Orleans. At Republic NOLA, On Saturday, Steve KimockJackie GreeneGeorge Porter Jr.Jeff Chimenti, and JM Kimock came together as Voodoo Dead for a gratefully NOLA-fied late-night set. Back over at the Joy Theatre, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead laid down an impressive performance for their second of three nights in New Orleans,

On the final night of the Jazz Fest season tonight (5/7), The Howlin’ Wolf is the place to be:  The exciting “Michael Jackson vs. Stevie Wonder” tribute (featuring Eric “Benny” Bloom, Wil Blades, Adam Deitch, DJ Williams & MonoNeon) will return to Jazz Fest for its third consecutive year, descending on The Howlin’ Wolf to close things down just after Zigaboo Modeliste’s 19th Annual Funk Revue finishes up.
