Growing up in Cincinnati in the 90’s, Freekbass was exposed to a wide array of musical influences. While others were listening to Green Day and Nirvana, Freek was getting weird with funky low-end legends like Zapp Band and Midnight Star.

It’s no wonder that the prolific bassist titled his new, forthcoming album CINCINNATI, as the music is a culmination of all of Freekbass’s projects and influences. There’s some pieces of his own funk, some electrofunk from with The Headtronics, and some influences from friend and mentor Bootsy Collins. All in all, if there’s one label for CINCINNATI, it’s Freeky!

Due out on December 11th, we’re proud to debut the leading single from the new album. Listen to “Put It In A Letter” below:

Speaking about the album, Freekbass says, “With the last album, producer Duane [Lundy] and I were just starting to know each other. On this album we have since worked on many projects together and thus have a strong feel and vision where we want the music to go. Plus, I had taken some time off from touring with my own band before starting the last album. With this one , we have been hitting it pretty hard on the road as a band so we were used to playing together. Plus we spent a lot of time on writing songs and preproduction before we even got in the studio. With all of the touring leading up to the recording I feel more confident as a player, singer, and songwriter than I have in a long time.”
