Fan-favorite Colorado sextet Leftover Salmon has had a big year, and the beloved genre-blending bluegrass act has a special hometown throwdown planned for Thanksgiving weekend. The band will play a pair of shows at Englewood, CO’s Gothic Theatre on November 23rd and 24th, with two Colorado bands serving as the supporting acts. Gasoline Lollipops will open the show on the 23rd, and Tenth Mountain Division will play the night’s opening set on the 24th.

Leftover Salmon has been flying high all year after the March release of their critically acclaimed new album, Something Higher, a follow-up to their 2014 studio album, High Country, and their standout 2016 25th-anniversary live album, 25. Produced by the band’s long-time producer Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), Something Higher was recorded at the famous Wavelab Studio in Tucson, Arizona, in analog and shows Leftover Salmon at their finest—drawing upon and infusing a dizzying breadth of influences ranging from zydeco to R&B to jazz, blues, bluegrass, and more. Mixing new material with old favorites and covers has given Leftover Salmon a fresh breath of air—a development that has been clearly evident through their high energy shows that they’ve brought coast-to-coast in 2018.

If that’s not convincing enough, Leftover Salmon has also announced “Thanksgiving Leftovers: A Weekend of Giving,” a series of charitable events taking place directly next door to the Gothic Theatre at Moe’s Original BBQ. On Friday, November 23rd, Leftover Salmon will host a coat drive to benefit Coats for Colorado, where fans are encouraged to donate a new or gently used coat for a chance to win prizes. Woodshed Red will provide the music on Friday night at Moe’s Original BBQ both before and after Leftover Salmon’s performance. Banshee Tree and Taylor Scott Band will provide the music on Saturday night at Moe’s Original BBQ before and after Leftover Salmon at the Gothic.

The fun doesn’t stop there, as Leftover Salmon will host a musical comedy game show and fundraiser dubbed “We B-E-E Spelling“, featuring Vince Herman & Sockeye, along with comedians Kyle Ayers and Alex Greer. Fans will also have an opportunity to go bowling with the band. Proceeds from the entirety of the weekend’s activities will benefit the Colorado Mental Wellness Network. In addition, throughout the weekend, Leftover Salmon will be hosting a canned food drive for longtime Boulder, CO non-profit Conscious Alliance, offering fans that bring 10 or more cans of nonperishable food an exclusive, limited edition poster.

If this sounds like your type of charitably-minded post-Thanksgiving party, head here for tickets to both nights of Leftover Salmon’s upcoming Gothic Theatre run.
