Phish Members Sit In With SCI, Leftover, & Yonder; Mike & Trey Play Duo Set, On This Day In 2010 [Video/Audio]

Back on October 9th, 2010, a bunch of big-name musicians from our scene came together for a special benefit concert supporting the victims of the Fourmile Canyon Fire, which burned 169 structures and cost over $200 million in damages along the Front Range around Boulder, Colorado, and beyond. The benefit hosted at 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado, saw performances by four beloved Colorado bands—String Cheese Incident, Leftover Salmon, Yonder Mountain String Band, and Big Head Todd and The Monsters—as well as appearances by the members of Phish across the evening.

Leftover Salmon welcomed sit-ins by String Cheese Incident bassist Keith Moseley and Phish keyboardist Page McConnell, while Yonder’s set boasted a sit-in by Phish drummer Jon Fishman. With all the members of Phish on hand for the all-star wildfire relief show, the night also featured a special duo set by Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon, during which Trey noted that “the four of us have always thought of Colorado as a second home” and gave a special shoutout to the volunteer firefighters who were posted up in section 107 of the venue—a section reserved especially for the heroes who had helped fight the Fourmile Canyon fire.

After Anastasio and Gordon’s duo set, String Cheese Incident took the stage, with the Colorado-born jam juggernaut later inviting out Trey to join them during a high-octane rendition of “Outside and Inside” and Joe Walsh’s “Rocky Mountain Way”. The night also hosted a massive super jam by the bands in attendance (save for our four favorite Vermonters), during which the members of Cheese, Leftover, Yonder, and Big Head Todd came out to lay out some special jams for the sold-out arena.
