The Heavy Pets have been gearing up for a huge 2018. Last year, the Florida band was busy in the studio, and the fruits of their labor, a full-length studio album titled Strawberry Mansion, is due this Friday, February 23rd. Predictably, fans are beyond excited for Strawberry Mansion considering it will be the band’s first full album since 2011’s Swim Out Past The Sun, marking the band’s fourth studio album after a gap of seven years (though The Heavy Pets have released a handful of EPs during that time). In recent weeks, The Heavy Pets have been slowly teasing tracks from Strawberry Mansion, dropping singles off the upcoming ten-track self-produced record, and announcing an extensive coast-to-coast touring schedule that spans through to June following the album release party this Friday at Fort Lauderdale’s Culture Room (get tickets here).

The Heavy Pets Announce Tour Dates, Jeff Lloyd Talks Band’s First Album In Seven Years

As guitarist and vocalist Jeff Lloyd explained about getting back into the studio after such a long time:

We focused on a series of EPs over the last few years and felt it was time to get back in and produce a full-length record. We had a ton of material ready to go, so we felt it was time again to make a longer statement. I think we really found a process that works for us—recording at a variety of South Florida studios including our own, and finishing everything at the Power Station, where we have done the bulk of our work the last few years.

Today, Live For Live Music is proud to premiere yet another new track from Strawberry Mansion, “Invisible Coyotes”. While the song starts out initially hard and heavy, as the vocals first kick in, “Invisible Coyotes” lightens up significantly, drawing on the band’s long-standing jubilant and feel-good sound. Mediating between heavier bridges, cascading guitar riffs, and triumphant verses, the song showcases The Heavy Pets’ musical mastery of different genres. With a huge build to the song’s end featuring a particularly shreddy climax, The Heavy Pets’ newest single stands as case-in-point of the immense growth the band has witnessed since their last album seven years ago.
