Hailing from Albany, NY, brand new ensemble outfit Wurliday brings together some of the most exciting, dynamic musicians in the live music scene for a lively injection of soul-funk goodness, direct to your ears. The latest brainchild of guitarist/songwriter Justin Henricks (Beau Sasser’s Escape Plan/The Chronicles), Wurliday is preparing for the May 12th release of their debut EP Bedtime Blazer, recorded and produced in the fall of 2016 by Alan Evans (Soulive) at his Iron Wax Studio in Millers Falls, MA.

The band is very excited to feature Jennifer Hartswick on their debut single ‘Getting There’. The rest of the EP will be released May 12 and boasts an all-star lineup including Arielle O’Keefe (Girl Blue) and Tyrone Hartzog on vocals and Michelangelo Carubba (Turkuaz), Beau Sasser (Kung Fu), Paul Phillipone (West End Blend), Reed Sutherland (Mammal Dap) and Justin Henricks holding down the rhythm section.

Live For Live Music is excited to premiere the retro animated video for Wurliday’s “Getting There” with lead vocals by Jennifer Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band) below:

Says Hendricks of the track’s recording process, “I’ve been working on this project for some time now and decided to take a ‘Steely Dan’ type of approach to the record in calling upon some of the best musicians I know to do the session. The sessions were a ton of fun–people coming in and out including Beau Sasser, who takes the organ solo on this tune. From there everything blossomed and it really became a nice collaboration from a lot of great friends. Jen and I met on a short run of shows last year called “Super Jam.” I was ecstatic when I called on Jen to sing on this track and she agreed, I knew her voice and feel was exactly what the track called for.”
