Holy Funk! Turkuaz absolutely destroyed the Parish Room at House of Blues New Orleans last Saturday night (Nov. 7th). When Brooklyn funk meets New Orleans, the result is a recipe for total rage. The energy displayed by this nine-piece band was through the roof. The audience was in awe over the fullness of sound that Turkuaz has captured, and how unique that sound is.

Saturday night was one of the highest energy sets the House of Blues has seen in a long time. Turkuaz consists of Dave Brandwein/Guitar, Vocals, Taylor Shell/Bass, Craig Brodhead/Guitar, Keyboards, Michelangelo Carubba/Drums, Chris Brouwers/Trumpet, Keyboards, Greg Sanderson/Tenor Sax, Josh Schwartz/Bari Sax, Vocals, Sammi Garett/Vocals, Tambourine, Shira Elias/Vocals. Together this nine-piece ensemble brings uncanny amounts of energy creating one of the better live funk shows you can see in todays jam scene.

Amongst all the talented guitar players in the scene these days, Brodhead might be one of the most underrated out there. The entire crowd couldn’t help but tune in to the incredible licks and runs that he was playing throughout the night. The guy is as good as it gets.
