April 14, 2014– Taking Back Sunday treated fans to a small acoustic session at Revolution Bar & Music Hall in their hometown of Amityville. The entire band showed up to sign their new cd and vinyl, but only John Nolan and Adam Lazzara took the stage.

That's me!

They played two songs off their new album Happiness Is, a Tom Petty cover, plus a few old songs. To the crowd’s delight, John played the popular “Existentialism on Prom Night” by Straylight Run, the band he formed when TBS had broken up. They finished off the night with “Make Damn Sure” after joking that Adam had to run home to take care of his fat baby, now that’s rock ‘n roll.

The show was short but sweet, bringing back some wonderful high school memories of when emo music flowed freely in magical places like Hollister. The show confirmed that I’m very glad to see Taking Back Sunday make their comeback. Both Adam and John’s voices have a piercing real tone that’s hard to come by now-a-days when everyone sounds so autotuned.

The band went on to play a sold-out show the next night in New York City, and will play another tonight, followed by their final NYC show on Monday, April 21st.
