During some down time with his main band, guitarist Dave Matthews put together an all-star crew for a major Dave Matthews & Friends tour throughout late 2003 into 2004. Among those friends were Tim Reynolds, Tony Hall, Brady Blade, Ray Paczkowski, and Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio.

Though the band played a handful of performances after this tour, the run from November of 2003 through January of 2004 was really their prime. 13 years later, we look back at the final tour date of the run, played in Oakland, CA at the Oakland Arena. One of the many highlights from that show was a ripping version of “Sweet Up And Down,” and a video of Trey’s solo from that performance has been in circulation for a number of years. It’s what Phish fans have come to know and love about Trey, as he gleefully glides through notes and brings the energy up for the song’s conclusion.
