Back in 1997, a number of musicians gathered at the famed Royal Albert Hall in London, England for a special benefit concert. Titled Music For Montserrat, the show raised money for the small island of Montserrat after a volcanic eruption destroyed cities and left citizens devastated. Organized by famed producer George Martin, the money raised not only provided aid, but allowed for the construction of a new cultural centre just a few years later.

Of course, music fans will look back at this show with fondness for a particular musical moment. With Marc Knopfler taking the lead, he introduced three esteemed guests to accompany him on stage: Sting, Eric Clapton and Phil Collins. What a super jam!

The Dire Straits guitarist then hit the opening notes to the riff of “Money For Nothing,” immediately enciting an enormous response from the crowd. Fortunately, there’s great video footage of this all-star performance to share. Enjoy…
