Back on this day, the 17th of October, in 1998, Phish played an all-acoustic set at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA. The single-set performance was part of Neil Young‘s annual Bridge School Benefit show, which also featured performances from the legendary rocker himself, along with R.E.M., and the Barenaked Ladies.

The set featured debuts of “Sleep,” “Never,” and “Driver,” and an a cappella version of “Free Bird” (first time played in 338 shows – 6/19/94). The “Harry Hood” jam featured an extra special sit-in from the event host, and Young stayed on for a performance of “Helpless” with the Vermont Quartet to end the set.

Thanks to Jam & Psych on MV, we can watch pro-shot footage of this milestone performance. Tune in below.
