img_1565Since their start on and around the mountains of Colorado, The String Cheese Incident has developed into an incredibly versatile band. Equally at home picking out fierce bluegrass leads as they are laying down a fierce techno boogie and all points between, there seems to be nothing Cheese can’t do well. But like all first loves, the band still revisits their earlier days with the fondness that comes over time.

String Cheese has developed a tradition of sorts at Suwannee Hulaween, going full-on bluegrass mode for one of their Sunday sets. They generally incorporate guests into this tradition as well, and for the first three songs this year, the band welcomed The Travelin’ McCourys. Led by legitimate mountain music royalty, Rob and Ronnie McCoury, sons of one of the original bluegrass boys himself, Del McCoury, the Travelin’ Incident were all smiles as they performed some of the genre’s classics together.

Luckily our own Rex Thomson was on hand to catch all the fun from the pit as these two bands had a down home good time! Turn the sound up and clear yourself a little dancing room before hitting play… you won’t regret it!
