New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival recently released their lineup, and as always, it is stacked with massive acts and NOLA legends such as The Who, Elton John, Jimmy Buffett, The Original Meters, Widespread Panic, Dr. John, Tedeschi Trucks Band and a whole slew of artists from all over the map (even Pitbull, LOL). A mystery act remains to be revealed for a Sunday headlining spot, the final day of the seven day event that spans over two consecutive weekends.

A quote from festival producer Quint Davis has everyone stirring. Davis exclaimed that the ‘TBA’ artist is “going to be bigger than anyone that’s listed there now.” He later noted that he was referring to that particular day’s lineup rather than the overall festival — i.e., we’re not talking bigger than The Who or Elton John.

Sunday currently consists of Steve Winwood, Kacey Musgraves, The O’Jays, Buddy Guy, Trombone Shorty, The Meters (original cast), Maze ft. Frankie Beverly, Dr. John, The Radiators, and about 50 other acts. Anyone who’s been to Jazz Fest knows it’s not just about the headliners (I’d way rather spend my day partaking in a Mardi Gras Indian ritual, getting my soul cleansed in the Gospel Tent, perusing the local art, etc.), but compared to the other schedules, this day simply doesn’t measure up. The mystery act is going to be big, that’s for sure, and who doesn’t love to speculate?!

Could we be looking at a Pink Floyd reunion? David Gilmour recently came out of the woodwork, and the band is on the heels of their final album… why not make one last appearance?

Could the Grateful Dead be expanding their 50th reunion for a stint in Nawlins? Though that didn’t fare too well for them back in 1970…

Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea just announced a joint tour that comes to a close at the end of April…hmmmm.

U2 is hitting the road but cleared for that date, making that a perfectly viable option. Same goes for D’Angelo, The Foo Fighters, Steely Dan, Mumford and Sons, Beck, AC/DC and Madonna.

So, who do you think it will be?! Tell us in the comments!
