British band You Me At Six kicked off their tour opener at Brighton Music Hall in Boston on Thursday night. It’s been two years since the band has toured in the states and they did not disappoint. Before doors opened, the line went down the block and around the corner as fans waited in anticipation for the night’s performances. Supporting You Me At Six were Indie pop band machineheart and pop rock trio, Dreamers.

The evening was typical to New England for this time of year with snow and ice on the ground and a cold that soaked through to your bones. The music inside, however, let the winter chill fade away as the music got underway. Opener machineheart eased into the show as angelic vocals and mystical tones drew attendees in from the cold air. After a quick changeover, Dreamers took to the stage for a rowdy crowd. The vibe in the room quickly turned into an energetic bundle of playfulness as fans threw their arms in the air and danced nonstop to their set. A large sign with the name DREAMERS glowed in bright white and helped charge the energy in the room. Their set included a first time live performance of their brand new song, “Die Happy” as well as fan favorite, “Sweet Disaster.”

As the clock ticked a little past nine, the headliner You Me At Six finally took to the stage. The packed venue was bursting at the seams in anticipation for the start of their show. As the first notes of “Fast Forward” kicked off the set, fans put their arms high in the air as they jumped up and down to this rockin’ tune. When “Back Again” creeped into the set, the crowd wasted no time busting out the lyrics in full volume.

The steamy room took a breather as they slowed it down with “Predictable” that included ghostly guitar slides before they turned the corner and slid into a raw “Give.” The crowd once again took over the lyrics and sent a wave of goosebumps through the venue during the magical moment. Ever popular “3AM” shook off the intensity as the crowd was a sea of arms in the air. “Take On The World” was played to a blacked out stage as fans lit up the band with their phones instead.

Before the set came to an end with “Bite My Tongue”, the band had a bit of hilarity with their pre-encore banter by saying “the band knows it’s bullshit and the crowd knows it’s bullshit. When we come back for encore, everyone will act surprised.” With that, they performed a fiery tune as a steady stream of fans crowd surfed to the stage only to run back to the crowd and do it again. As anticipated, a four-song bullshit-free encore did not disappoint as fans continued to crowd surf and yell out lyrics with the show finally wrapping up to fast-paced “Underdog.”

If you haven’t seen them, get out there and do so before they head back across the pond to hit up a number of European festivals this summer. To find out more about You Me At Six, along with a complete list of tour dates and ticket info, head to their official website.
