Mike Gordon stopped by Brooklyn Steel in Brooklyn, NY, on Saturday, March 10, as part of his ongoing OGOGO tour. Gordon and his band–comprised of guitarist Scott Murawski, keyboardist Robert Walter, drummer John Kimock, and percussionist Craig Myers–have spent much of the last month on the road, as their Saturday night performance marked the almost-end of a lengthy tour. Playing songs off the recent OGOGO album, as well as some fun, unexpected covers of Jon ClearyFiona Apple, Aerosmith, Talking Heads, and of course, Phish, the energetically-charged, two-set show was well worth the wait.

At one point during the show, Gordon abandons the bass and goes for an old-fashioned, traditional “shredder”. Then, Murawski pulls out an electric shredder, proceeds to shred a piece of paper, before the two wonder “who that was” that made the introductions. Playing as good as it gets after a month on the road, Mike Gordon will head to The Egg in Albany, NY tonight, before taking the rest of March off. On April 4 and 5, Mike Gordon will head to Burlington, VT’s Higher Ground.
