In the wake of Tom Petty‘s sudden passing last week, musicians from around the world and across the spectrum of genres and styles have paid tribute to the iconic songwriter in some way or other. This past Monday, Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder gave his ceremonial tip of the hat to Petty during a “secret” intimate performance as part of live music platform Citi Sound Vault, an exclusive program for Citi card holders that provides  unique concert experiences for members. Although not much has surfaced from the show (i.e. setlist, full video) due to the intentionally exclusive nature of the series, one lucky fan in attendance gave us a glimpse into the special performance.

In addition to songs from his usual solo catalogue, Vedder reportedly picked up Petty’s old red Telecaster for a run through The Heartbreakers’ hit “I Won’t Back Down”.

You can see some assorted photos and clips from Eddie Vedder’s intimate performance at The Chapel in San Francisco on November 6th below via Instagram.
