Last night, on the same day David Byrne released American Utopia, his first solo album in a decade, the former Talking Heads frontman brought his “American Utopia” tour to Waterbury, CT’s Palace Theatre. The show marked just the fifth stop on a lengthy run that will stretch through the end of August and into September (with the recently announced NYC “Queens and Kings” shows at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn and Forest Hills Stadium in Queens).

Byrne explained his excitement for this high profile tour in a recent statement: “We’ll be doing some new songs… and many others that will, I assume, be familiar. I’m excited. This is the most ambitious show I’ve done since the shows that were filmed for Stop Making Sense, so fingers crossed.” If the reviews of the first few shows of the run are any indication, this is surely a tour that we’ll be talking about for years to come. You can get a taste of the “American Utopia” spectacle by watching David Byrne’s performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, also from last night.
