On Friday night, The Last Waltz Tour continued with a performance at Upper Darby, PA’s Tower Theater.

The performance saw a cast of all-star musicians including Warren HaynesJamey JohnsonLukas NelsonJohn MedeskiDon Was, Terence HigginsDave MaloneCyril Neville, and Mark Mullins pay tribute to The Band‘s iconic farewell show, which was immortalized in the Martin Scorsese concert documentary, The Last Waltz. In addition to playing through the songs from the legendary show, the performance featured a number of stories from guitarist Bob Margolin, who played with The Band and Muddy Waters at the original Last Waltz show in 1976.

“It is such an honor that the musical celebration of The Last Waltz and the Band carries on today,” The Band’s Robbie Robertson in a statement to go with the tour announcement in September. “Blackbird Presents and this extraordinary lineup of talent makes me proud to be a part of this ongoing and wonderful tradition.”

Blackbird Presents’ Keith Wortman also mentioned, “We are excited to be working closely with Robbie, Warren, Don and our incredible lineup of musicians and special guests on the latest incarnation of The Last Waltz Tour. This year’s tour will introduce fans to some very special never-heard-before arrangements of the classic hits from that Thanksgiving night in 1976.”
