Colorful Brooklyn funk powerhouse Turkuaz is currently on a massive tour this fall, nearing 50 stops spanning coast-to-coast that will last through the end of December. On Saturday night, November 11th, the 9-piece outfit made their way through their home base, Brooklyn, NY with supporting act The Suffers, for a highly awaited hometown dance party at Brooklyn Steel, the New York borough’s hottest new GA concert venue.
The band made good on their promise of a nonstop hometown dance party, working in songs from throughout their recorded catalogue as well as a couple of choice covers, including Sly & The Family Stone‘s “Babies Makin’ Babies” (featuring roaring high-register vocals from low-end sax man Joshua Schwartz) to close set one and a celebratory rendition of Hot Chocolate‘s “Everyone’s A Winner”, previously recorded on the band’s 2013 cover album, to round out set two. Finally, a sing-along “Bubba Slide” encore sent the crowd back into the chilly autumn Williamsburg air.
