On Saturday, September 25th, 2021, Global Citizen will unite artists, fans, and activists around the world for Global Citizen Live, a 24-hour livestream event aiming to unite activists, world leaders, governments, philanthropists, corporations, and Global Citizens in taking urgent action to create change. The Global Citizen Live stream will begin on Saturday, 9/25 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
As the event’s official description explains, “Global Citizen Live is a global moment of unity in the mission to defend the planet and defeat poverty. From six continents, the once-in-a-generation, 24-hour Global Citizen Live broadcast event takes place in iconic locations around the world, including Lagos, Rio de Janeiro, New York City, Paris, London, Seoul, Los Angeles, and Sydney.
Artists donating their time and talent—either live or filmed in advance—include Adam Lambert, Alessia Cara, Alok, Andrea Bocelli, Angélique Kidjo, Billie Eilish, Black Eyed Peas, BTS, Burna Boy, Camila Cabello, Charlie Puth, Christine and the Queens, Criolo, Coldplay, Cyndi Lauper, Davido, Deborra-Lee Furness, Delta Goodrem, Demi Lovato, DJ Snake, Doja Cat, Duran Duran, Ed Sheeran, Elton John, Fatma Said, Femi Kuti, Green Day, H.E.R., Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lopez, Jon Batiste, Keith Urban, Lang Lang, Liniker, Lizzo, Lorde, Made Kuti, Mart’nália, Meek Mill, Metallica, Mosquito, Rag’n’Bone Man, Ricky Martin, Shawn Mendes, Stormzy, The Lumineers, The Weeknd, Tiwa Savage, Tropkillaz, Usher, and more. Of particular note to music fans, the livestream is also reportedly set to feature footage from the return of the iconic Hatian-American hip-hop group, Fugees. The long-dormant trio—comprised of Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel—reunited earlier this week for the first time in more than a decade for a pop-up show at NYC’s scenic Pier 17 specifically to record their performance for the Global Citizen Live stream. It is unclear how much of the roughly 45-minute Fugees performance from Wednesday night will be used for the stream.
