The 55th Grammys are set to take place in February and should make for an interesting night as the surprising nominations were announced yesterday. The Black Keys, Kanye West, Fun., Frank Ocean, Mumford & Sons and Jay-Z walked out of yesterday with 6 nominations apiece. The nominations for Album of the Year are as follows:

Album of the Year

El Camino – The Black Keys
Some Nights – Fun.
Babel – Mumford & Sons
Channel Orange – Frank Ocean
Blunderbuss – Jack White

Although Babel by Mumford & Sons is a clear top choice, The Black Keys’ El Camino which is still not done receiving hype is a definite top choice as well. It will be interesting to see who wins the award. Singer Dan Auerbach is in the running for non-classical Producer of the Year for his efforts on the album and for his contribution to Dr. John and Hacienda’s albums. The Black Keys were also nominated for Record of the Year for their song “Lonely Boy.” Let’s see if they bring Derrick T. Tuggle (the star of the music video) along with them this time as they did to the Mtv VMA’s. The Record of the Year nominees are as follows:

Record of the Year

“Lonely Boy” – The Black Keys
“Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” – Kelly Clarkson
“We Are Young” – Fun., featuring Janelle Monáe
“Somebody That I Used To Know” – Gotye, featuring Kimbra
“Thinkin Bout You” – Frank Ocean
“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” – Taylor Swift

Of course Taylor Swift was chosen, we can’t escape a single Grammys without her. The Alabama Shakes were thrilled that they were nominated for Best New Artist, but Fun. definitely seems to be a top choice. The nominations for Best New Artist are as follows:

Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun was appalled that the singer was not nominated for a single award. The singer, who has been in the spotlight for quite some time did not even make it to Song of the Year. The nominees for Song of the Year are as follows:
