For a band that was relatively unknown less than two years ago, The Alabama Shakes have risen to stardom seemingly overnight.  Well, chalk another one up for the band, as they will now be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on Saturday (obviously), February 16th.  Hosting the show (also, for the first time) will be Christopher Waltz, who played Dr. King Schulz in the popular, yet controversial Quentin Tarantino film Django Unchained.

With their brand of gritty, retro-blues rock, The Alabama Shakes have also been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist and Best Rock Performance for their hit “Hold On.”  Their competition for Best New Artist is The Lumineers, Frank Ocean, Fun., and Hunter Hayes.  This year’s Grammy Awards show is set to air on February 10th, and will take place at Los Angeles’ Staples Center.

The Shakes had this to say on their Facebook page:
Alright america, here’s some news that we can all enjoy together live, from New York… on TV in two weeks…

We’re gonna be the musical guests on February 16 on Saturday Night Live!!! Christoph Waltz is hosting! So rad, thanks SNL for the huge honor.”
