Alanis Morissette has shared another new single which is set to appear on her forthcoming studio album, Such Pretty Forks in the Road. Entitled, “Diagnosis”, the new track which arrived on Friday follows previously-shared singles “Smiling” and “Reasons I Drink” as the third song to be included on the album which was supposed to arrive on May 1st but will now be pushed back to a future, still-to-be-determined date.

“With all that is happening in the world at the moment it feels best to press pause on ‘Such Pretty Forks in the Road’ being released May 1. it’s still coming & in motion…the date will be pushed back just a bit,” the singer admitted in a recent statement in regards to her first studio album since 2012’s Havoc and Bright Lights. “As I continue to finish the record, and we find a new release date that feels right. we’ll let you know as soon as we know.”

“Diagnosis”, co-written by Michael Farrell, is a calming piano ballad that hears Morissette’s vocals power through while sharing her melodic thoughts themed around society’s stigma towards mental health. Her soothing performance does a fine job of setting a relaxed mood, while also engaging the listener’s ear as she sings out, “So I am debilitated/I can’t remember where the sentence started when I’m trying to finish it/And all of you are so frustrated/And everyone around me is trying to help as much as they can.”

Morissette was one of the notable musicians including The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Elton John, and many more who took part in last week’s One World: Together At Home broadcast, which raised nearly $128 million for COVID-19 relief.

Morissette is also scheduled to embark on a 2020 summer tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of 1995’s Jagged Little Pill alongside Garbage and Liz Phair, but those dates are now in jeopardy due to the global health crisis. The singer has already rescheduled her upcoming shows in Japan, Manila, Australia, and New Zealand to the fall months.
