ALO has announced the release of a new album, Frames, due out April 4th via Jack Johnson‘s Brushfire Records, and shared the first single, “Blank Canvas”.
Frames showcases the California-based quartet’s wide range of musical influences, blending rock, electronic, alt-pop, R&B, folk, funk, and dance in a cohesive ten-track collection. Zach Gill, Steve Adams, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, and Ezra Lipp each contributes as a writer and lead vocalist, offering a rich, multifaceted sound.
The album offers listeners a joyful escape through carefully crafted songs, combining heartfelt themes with a playful touch of humor. Central to the album is the idea of finding balance in the chaos of modern life, overwhelmed by a constant flood of information that flows through endless digital feeds in figurative “frames,” forcing us to separate what’s meaningful from what’s just noise. ALO invites fans to explore the “Space Between Frames” (a song by Lebo), a metaphorical refuge where we can rediscover our grounding and reconnect with what truly matters.
Accompanying the announcement, the band released “Blank Canvas”, an uplifting track with a melodic guitar riff and optimistic tone. Keyboardist Zach Gill, who wrote the song, said “it’s about looking at the world with fresh eyes and leaving behind cynicism.” Bassist Steve Adams added, “sonically and thematically, it felt like the perfect album opener. Bare and vulnerable, yet full of possibility.”
