American Babies toured heavily in 2014 in support of their latest EP, Stark & Red, and just finished a well-received December run. They will be making their way back to New York City on Friday, February 27th to play an “Evening with” show at The Cutting Room (Get Tix Here). The group will play a full two-set show, weaving in and out of American Babies/Tom Hamilton originals and covers of modern American rock music’s best. Think Arcade Fire, My Morning Jacket, The War on Drugs, Dr. Dog, Ryan Adams….artists in that spectrum of the musical universe. Sounds pretty sweet to us too.

Since forming American Babies in 2007, singer-songwriter/guitarist Tom Hamilton has kept with a steady diet of writing and playing, then more writing and playing some more. With three full-length albums and two EP’s under his belt with American Babies – not counting the ones with indie-electronic outfit Brothers Past – Hamilton has honed his skills and is writing some of the best music of his career as this is being written, all while playing with high-profile acts such as Joe Russo’s Almost Dead (including the recent PhilRad New Year’s Eve run of shows at The Capitol Theatre w/ Phil Lesh), and with Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann‘s side-project Billy & The Kids (w/ Aron Magner of The Disco Biscuits and Reed Mathis of Tea Leaf Green), and Electron with Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner of the Disco Biscuits, and drummer Mike Greenfield of Lotus. 

The American Babies lineup has solidified nicely in in 2014, with Adam Flicker on piano/organ, Al Smith on drums, Justin Mazer on guitar and current Particle bassist and Brothers Past bandmate Clay Parnell. The group played an incredible set at this year’s Catskill Chill, and have kept the momentum going through the fall and winter months.
