American Music Spotlight, a new documentary-style TV series, will focus on some of our favorite artists for its first season this Spring.
Airing on DirecTV4k (and later this year on Nashville’s newest network, Circle), American Music Spotlight will highlight some of the best and brightest (though often under-the-radar) acts on the road today by focusing on specific live performances and artist interviews.
The first season of the show will feature episodes focusing on Dawes, Yonder Mountain String Band, Widespread Panic, Greensky Bluegrass, Shovels and Rope, The Marcus King Band, Steep Canyon Rangers, Sam Bush, Tyler Childers, The Allman Betts Band, and more.

“This series aims to be the craft-beer of music shows,” explains the show’s creator, Adam Paul of 7 Cinematics, in a press release. “We’re keeping it authentic and not mass-produced, with lots of flavors and textures on both the theaters and the bands.”
Paul’s production crew leaned on Hollywood-style techniques, shooting in 4K on RED Cameras with Zeiss cinematic lenses to create an enveloping visual experience not found elsewhere on TV. Watch a trailer for the show below:
