In September, multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird and actor/comedian/musician John C. Reilly offered up a performance together at The Ainsworth in Nashville, TN as part of AmericanaFest.

With Bird on fiddle, Reilly on guitar, and Alan Hampton on upright bass, the trio worked through a soulful, bluegrass-infused rendition of The Carter Family classic, “When The World’s On Fire”. The live rendition started out with a beautiful twangy fiddle solo from Bird before he handles the vocal lead, backed by vocal harmonies provided by Reilly and Hampton. Although Reilly may be most recognizable from his work in feature film comedies including Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Step Brothers, and Walk Hard, it’s a special treat to see him immersed in Nashville’s thriving live music scene.
