Andy Hall, known for his role as the dobro player in The Infamous Stringdusters, has released his latest solo studio album, 12 Bluegrass Classics for Resophonic Guitars, out now via Tape Time Records/Regime Music Group. The 12-track album arrived this past Friday and acts as Hall’s first full-length solo effort since 2017’s Let the Steel Play, and fourth overall.

Hall’s latest studio project features a mix of instrumental recordings highlighting the talented musician’s solo performances of well-known traditional folk tunes and familiar rock songs including “House of the Rising Sun”, “Ashokan Farewell”, and “Amazing Grace”. The album was mixed by Hall’s Stringdusters bandmate, Andy Falco.

“I’ve always striven to push the envelope as a player, but never had the chance to put my stamp on some of the formative tunes I’ve always played at jam sessions,” Hall added in a press statement about his new album. “I chose songs that were familiar to me, shared Andy. “[These are] tunes that I’ve been playing for years, and that have shaped my playing. These 12 are some of my favorites, and I’m happy to get to offer up my take on them!”
