All day today, a slew of artists will honor the late, great John Prine with a special livestream event, Angel From Maywood: A Livestream Tribute to John Prine, hosted by Consequence of Sound on Instagram.
The tribute will feature performances by some of the many artists influenced by Prine’s work including Warren Haynes, Grace Potter, Norah Jones, The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy, The Head and the Heart, John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats, Kevin Morby, Sara and Sean Watkins of Watkins Family Hour, Lake Street Dive, The Lone Bellow’s Zach Williams, Marcus King, Valerie June, Erin Rae, and many more.
To honor the wishes of John’s wife, Fiona Whelan Prine, the livestream will benefit three non-profits: Nashville Rescue Mission, Room in the Inn, and Thistle Farms. Though the livestream will be public, donations to any and all of the non-profits are encouraged.
