Brooklyn-based Afrobeat outfit Antibalas has released a new single to appear on their forthcoming studio album, Fu Chronicles, due out February 7th via Daptone Records. Titled, “Amenawon”, the new recording delivers an energizing listening experience with rich musical tones coming in from all directions and an inspiring vocal performance from singer Duke Amayo.

The forthcoming studio album comes on the heels of the band’s extensive 20th-anniversary celebrations this past year.

“Amenawon” chugs along with the constant sound of a shaker acting as the track’s metronome while Amayo belts out a vibrant mix of lyrics that translate to, “May the water you will drink, not pass you by.” The increasing presence of horns throughout the song’s 8:17 minute runtime helps to give the recording some added shine. “Amenawon” is the second single released from the forthcoming album following “Fight Am Finish”.
