A couple weeks back, Buffalo-native groove rock quartet Aqueous made their way to Chicago, IL for a performance at Lincoln Hall as part of their ongoing 2017 Fall Tour. Though the single-set show was a relatively short one, clocking in at just under two hours in length, the band managed to pack in an impressive showcase of thrilling performance and improvisation.

Watch Aqueous’ Asheville Music Hall Show In Its Entirety

From the ‘straight down to business’ “Dave’s Song” > “Weight of the Word” opening segment, to the meat of the set– jam sandwich that weaved from “20/20” into “Timmy’s Blades” (an 82-show break-out) and back into “20/20”–to the set-closing “Warren In The Window” (featuring an extended jam led by special guest Justin Reckamp of Mungion), the Lincoln Hall gig displayed the band at the height of their considerable abilities.

But even after their wild ride of a set, Aqueous had one more surprise in store for the Chicago fans: an encore rendition of Pink Floyd classic “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” for their first time in 2017 and just their sixth time ever. Led by Dave Loss on keys and vocals (with Mike Gantzer supplying haunting harmony and lead guitar), Aqueous delivered an emotionally stirring performance of the fan favorite composition that was reverent and true to the original as well as imbued with their own unique energy as a group.
