As 2017 accelerates to its end, bands have been rapidly revealing their plans to celebrate New Year’s Eve. As for the rising star jam band Aqueous, the group has big plans to ring in 2018 with a hometown show in Buffalo, New York, at Town Ballroom. For this highly anticipated NYE bash, the band has announced it has particularly special plans. While the night will start off traditionally with a set of originals, Aqueous has just announced a twist to their upcoming New Year’s Eve show. Following the first set of original tunes, the group will play a second set that’s “Gorillaz-themed,” meaning it’ll be chock full of the group’s own jam-heavy takes on iconic Gorillaz tunes.
As Aqueous frontman Mike Gantzer explained in a press release, “AQ draws from many different bands’ catalogs for inspiration, and the Gorillaz catalog is one that all four of us are HUGE fans of. Their catalog integrates four styles of music that we all love: hip-hop, rock, punk, and electronic. Once the idea got thrown out there to do a Gorillaz-themed set, it was clear that that was the vibe we wanted to really set our NYE party over the top!”
