Aron Magner, the versatile keyboardist best known for his work with The Disco Biscuits, has released a new solo single, “Octomesh”, written and recorded while in lockdown during 2020.

The soothing, ambient electronic track extends past the six-minute mark but takes none of them for granted, gradually layering in tones and textures to take listeners from soothing, ambient soundscapes to a pulsing dream sequence with remarkable fluidity.

Says Magner, “After the initial shock of a stand still life of quarantine last Spring, I began to write music simply to smooth my mind. This track particularly stood out to me. The juxtaposition of calming and invigorating in the same track. There’s a lot of patience to get lost in during the first couple minutes of the track, as more layered sounds enter the sonic space before the eventual beat comes in.”

The new release peels back yet another layer of Magner’s diverse musical tastes. In addition to his work with The Disco Biscuits, Magner leads a “mostly acoustic” jazz trio, SPAGA, that harkens back to the jazz-oriented training he received prior to the birth of his popular jam band. “Octomesh” marks the first track released under Magner’s solo Spotify profile, but he promises it won’t be long until his solo catalog begins to grow. Magner notes, “I plan to use this new artist profile as a means of releasing some more music I’ve been working on recently.”
