After Donald Trump took some flak from Neil Young for using his song politically, it’s nice to see someone doing things by the books.

Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders recently released an advertisement, soundtracked by the Simon & Garfunkel song “America.” The 1968 hit plays behind scenes of America and Sanders’ political campaign, before the presidential hopeful comes on to endorse the message. The minute-long clip has been making the rounds for a few days, and now Art Garfunkel has weighed in on things.

Speaking to CNN’s Michael Smerconish, Garfunkel addressed why he let Sanders use the song for the campaign. “It’s the moment you say, ‘Am I Bernie guy? Yes I am,'” he says. “I like that Bernie is very upset by the gap between the rich and the poor. I think that’s central.” He goes on to compare Sanders to Hillary Clinton, and talks about how his song fits into the narrative of the ad.
