According to the announcement shared via Billboard on Thursday, the 24 newly-active charts will rank artists who have earned between 10,000 and 250,000 ‘trackers’ on the Bandsintown platform based on a formula blending tracker growth and fan engagement (ticket clicks and event RSVPs) for the previous month. The report goes on to state that Bandsintown collects consumer data from its 50 million fans registered to the platform, who collectively generate up to 500,000 clicks to ticketing sites including Ticketmaster, AXS, and TicketFly on a daily basis.

Of the 24 charts launched on Thursday, some will quantify and rank both emerging and established artists in the United States, in addition to weekly buzzing and emerging artist charts for major markets including Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York City, and San Francisco. Charts ranking international artists in cities outside the United States are expected to arrive in the coming weeks prior to the start of the new year.

The partnership also comes with a new “Billboard + Bandsintown Tour Index” which presents four charts updated weekly which will showcase the top overall and rising artists, both domestically and globally. That initiative is expected to launch by the end of the month.

“In a fast-growing streaming music world, there is nothing more true than real fans’ interactions and engagement at live music events to build successful and long-term artist careers,” Bandsintown partner Fabrice Sergent added in a statement to go with Thursday’s announcement. “Bandsintown’s dataset is unique in the marketplace as it highlights national and local rising stars based on fans engagement in the real world. The Bandsintown Live Music Charts furthers Bandsintown’s mission to support developing artists.”
