Live music discovery app Bandsintown has announced the launch of its new subscription-based streaming service which will feature exclusive virtual performances from notable artists including Chromeo, Fleet Foxes, Jeff Tweedy, Flying Lotus, and more.

Announced on Tuesday, Bandsintown PLUS will offer subscribers up to 25 live shows and more per month in HD video and audio from an impressive lineup of artists that also features Empress Of, Tycho, Joe Bonamassa, Little Dragon, Mt. Joy, Phoebe Bridgers, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Soccer Mommy, Toro y Moi, Trevor Hall, and more to be announced. The “All Access Pass” subscription runs for a manageable $9.99 per month—a 7-day free trial included—which also comes with intimate Q&A conversations with artists along with access to watch virtual performances on other platforms.

“For the past year, we’ve been hungry for live shows and for a chance to support the artists we love. Bandsintown PLUS is an opportunity to break the barriers of cost and location that have historically hindered live music experiences,” Bandsintown managing partner Fabrice Sergent said with the announcement. “Now, with Bandsintown PLUS, live music can be more affordable, more accessible, and more approachable.”

Since the shutdown of the concert and live events industry in North America last March, virtual performances—both real-time and archive video—have been the main option for live music for both artists and their fans. Music technology brands like Bandcamp and artists like Jon Barber (Disco Biscuits) have pivoted their own business models to launch their own concert streaming platforms in hopes of competing for viewership in the COVID-era streaming pool alongside websites like NugsFANS, and YouTube.
