The first video trailer from Spike Jonze‘s forthcoming documentary on hip-hop trio the Beastie Boys has arrived.

The short, 0:38 second teaser shared earlier this week is more of a mashup of archive video footage, but certainly gets the job done in building anticipation for the springtime release of the film, as Beastie Boys Story is set to arrive on Apple+ on April 24th.

The video also features new footage of surviving members Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz, who play significant roles in the rock doc as they help take the audience “way back into time” to when the Beastie Boys first broke out of the New York City hip-hop scene and onto the national spotlight where they’d become big names in the then-new MTV 1.0 generation.

Throughout the clip, fans are indeed taken back in time with a mix of footage from music videos to interviews. The new footage of the two members was filmed at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, NY, and will include Q&A segments, readings, and guest moderators, according to Rolling Stone.
