Berklee College of Music, alongside The Bass Vault, has announced a bass webinar featuring members of Phish, Tool, Dave Matthews Band, and more. The online seminar will cover a host of topics related to the instrument as well as the music industry.
The seminar will feature Mike Gordon (Phish), Justin Chancellor (Tool), Stefan Lessard (DMB), and Mike Inez (Alice In Chains). The session, dubbed ‘Creative Veterans of Electric Bass’, will be hosted by Berklee Bass Department chair Steve Bailey and Berklee Performance Scholar and noted bass master Victor Wooten.
The session, set for May 28th at 1 pm ET, will cover the musician’s own techniques, their advice to students, the ways that they are coping with the global pandemic, and more. The questions listed on an event flyer include, but are not limited to; what are they up to, what are they practicing, what is their advice to students, what was their path to success, and what can we all collaborate on to help get through COVID? Those who are interested in attending the event digitally are asked to register in advance to receive an email with information on joining the Zoom session. Past bass instructional sessions from Berklee and The Bass Vault have included members of King Crimson, Steely Dan, Vulfpeck, Prince, and many more.
