[UPDATE 2/2/23]: After making waves the announcement of her Renaissance World Tour earlier this week, Beyoncé has added seven additional stadium shows to her 2023 itinerary. The global hitmaker will now stay for a second night in major markets like Chicago (7/23), New York (7/30), Washington, D.C. (8/6), Atlanta (8/12), Los Angeles (9/3), and Houston (9/24).

The rollout of tickets for the tour is under particular scrutiny thanks to the widespread frustration caused by the Taylor Swift Eras Tour pre-sale debacle during which Ticketmaster‘s sales platform was overrun by unprecedented demand, leaving countless would-be customers ticketless, prompting the cancellation of a planned public on-sale, and raising the ire of artists, fans, and politicians alike. An ensuing hearing by the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary called into question an alleged monopoly over the live entertainment market being exerted by Live Nation Entertainment, which was formed via a 2010 merger between Live Nation, the world’s biggest concert promoter, and Ticketmaster, the world’s leading ticketing provider, and has since become a virtually unavoidable power in the industry despite various efforts to loosen its grasp.

While only a portion of the dates have gone on sale, tour promoter Live Nation is already warning that demand will well outweigh supply. Per an announcement from the company, “Fan demand already exceeds the number of available tickets by more than 800% based on current registration numbers in the Group A cities. To help meet demand for this first group of dates going on sale, seven shows have now been added based on venue and scheduling availabilities around the time of the tour. Even with these added dates, it is still expected that the majority of interested fans will not be able to get tickets because demand drastically exceeds supply.”

[2/1/23]: Beyoncé will return to the road for the first time since 2018 on her Renaissance World Tour. Announced on Tuesday, the worldwide trek comes in support of her Album of the Year-nominated 2022 release, Renaissance.

Beyoncé will spend May and June touring Europe before beginning a North American leg on July 7th in Toronto. She will perform at stadiums throughout the U.S. and Canada including Nashville, TN’s Nissan Stadium (7/15), Chicago, IL’s Soldier Field (7/22), East Rutherford, NJ’s Metlife Stadium (7/29, 7/30), Miami, FL’s Hard Rock Stadium (8/18), San Francisco, CA’s Levi’s Stadium (8/30), Seattle, WA’s Lumen Field (9/13), and many more before wrapping at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, LA (9/27).

Tickets to the North American leg of the Beyoncé Renaissance World Tour will be released in waves beginning February 6th. In order to purchase tickets, fans must register for the Ticketmaster Verified Fan pre-sale. Pre-sales are also available for members of Beyoncé’s BeyHive fan club and Citi cardmembers. Visit Ticketmaster’s website for more information.

The tour announcement comes after Beyoncé offered a peak at the tour’s lavish production potential with her first performance in five years as at a private January event in Dubai. She was reportedly paid $24 million to perform a 19-song set, during which she brought out her oldest daughter Blue Ivy to sing “Brown Skin Girl”. The two earned a Grammy in 2021 for Best Music Video for the Lion King track.

Beyoncé is gearing up for another trip to the Grammys, where her nine nods will make her the most-nominated artist at the ceremony. Renaissance nabbed noms for Album, Song, and Record of the Year, with Beyoncé looking to add to her 28 Grammy wins so far—tied for second-most of all time with producer Quincy Jones behind conductor Georg Solti (31).
