Beyoncé on Thursday revealed details for her long-awaited seventh album, Renaissance. Set to arrive on July 29th, the 16-track collection will mark her first solo studio release since Lemonade in 2016.

Thursday’s album announcement arrived in fittingly ornate fashion as synchronized tweets from major streaming platforms SpotifyApple Music, and Tidal confirmed the project with a placeholder artwork image. Renaissance carries a subtitle of “act i”, suggesting there could be more to this project than what arrives on July 29th.

Over on Beyoncé’s website fans can pre-order an exclusive Renaissance box set with a t-shirt, CD, collectible box, 28-page photo booklet, mini-poster, and more. The box sets will begin shipping on July 29th upon the album’s release.

Beyond the title and number of tracks, Beyoncé revealed little else about the upcoming project, not even the album artwork. The project will mark her first solo release since Lemonade in 2016, widely considered one of the best pop albums of the 2010s. Since then, she released a collaborative album with her husband Jay-ZThe Carters‘ Everything Is Love in 2018. She also contributed music to and curated 2019’s The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack/companion album to the Disney remake, in which she also voiced Nala. She accompanied the release of The Lion King: The Gift with a lauded visual album, Black Is King.

She earned a “Best R&B Performance” Grammy in 2020 for “Black Parade”, a single released for Juneteenth 2020 that was later added to The Lion King soundtrack. Beyoncé also scored a “Best Original Song” Academy Award for “Be Alive” from the film King Richard and submitted a pre-recorded performance of the track for this year’s Oscars.
