Big Something will return to Denver, CO’s Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom on July 15th with support from Kick The Cat (Kick is the cat’s name), the band announced on Friday.

This latest tour announcement comes as the North Carolina-bred genre-blending sextet kicks off The Too Big Drive-In Tour with Too Many Zooz on Friday, May 28th at Maggie Valley Festival Grounds in their home state. The Cervantes’ show comes at the tail end of BIG Something’s summer tour, followed by stops in Telluride, CO and appearances at Summer Camp Music Festival and Bonnaroo.

Big Something closed out 2020 with a return to Charlotte’s Lincoln Theatre for another New Year’s Eve run but was forced to play to an empty room due to the pandemic. Even in spite of the limitations imposed on musicians, that hasn’t stopped BIG Something from engaging fans through a series of Big Time Rewind livestreams that saw the band revisit its first three albums. This all came following the group’s 2020 Escape From The Living Room run of livestreams which built to the release of the band’s latest studio album, Escape.

Along for the ride at the Cervantes’ will be Kick The Cat, the jazz-fusion brainchild of Umphrey’s McGee drummer Kris Myers. One of many side projects for the versatile percussionist, Kick The Cat has seen a resurgence throughout the pandemic as Umphrey’s was largely kept off the road, allowing Myers to focus on his solo endeavors. The quartet plans to release its third album, Gurgle, on June 25th, just in time for the Cervantes’ show.

Both bands will appear at local Denver favorite Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom, which just recently released a schedule of non socially distant shows. After several hard-fought months of producing limited capacity shows, this hotspot for Mile High musicians is once again open for full capacity audiences.

Tickets for Big Something with Kick The Cat at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom on July 15th are on sale here. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours before the event is required for entry.
