Big Something will reach into the archives for the Transmissions streaming series, the band announced. The six-week run of free archival webcasts will highlight the genre-fluid quintet’s 2021 Halloween and New Year’s Eve runs.
Set to begin tonight, February 24th, the band will air one show per month through July. All of the selected concerts occurred in the band’s home state of North Carolina, with Transmissions kicking off with Big Something’s three-set New Year’s Eve show at Raleigh’s Lincoln Theatre. The cover-filled performance—one of few ticketed concerts to occur on December 31st, 2021—saw tributes to Mac Miller, Billy Strings, Turkuaz, George Harrison, and many more.
The series continues on March 24th with the first night of the band’s three-show Halloween run at Wilmington’s Greenfield Lake Amphitheater. October 29th served as a reunion of Big Something’s Royal Rumble Tour with Andy Frasco & The U.N. from early 2020. The April 21st Transmissions broadcast throws it back to night one of Big Something’s Raleigh New Year’s run on December 29th. On March 19th, Big Something will air the band’s October 30th show—featuring a “Jungle Boogie” theme with the band dressed as animals—before June 23rd brings about the band’s Talking Heads-themed Halloween show. The Transmissions webcast series then wraps on July 21st with Big Something’s New Year’s Day show in Raleigh.
Fans can register for free tickets to the Big Something Transmissions series on Mandolin. All shows will begin at 8 p.m. ET.
