Billy Strings has revealed the theme for his upcoming 2025 Halloween show at Baltimore, MD’s CFG Arena: “Meet Me at the Crypt,” an apparent play on his original song “Meet Me at the Creek” and Tales from the Crypt, the long-running HBO horror anthology series based on the classic comic book series of the same name [get tickets].
The somewhat cryptic theme announcement for the October 31st, 2025 show notes that the “Meet Me at the Crypt” production will feature Billy Strings as “The Wolf Man,” fiddler Alex Hargreaves “starring as The Mummy,” mandolinist Jarrod Walker as “Frankenstein,” bassist Royal Masat “acting as Dracula,” and banjo player Billy Failing “as the beautiful Bride of Frankenstein.”
In addition to the bluegrass monsters who typically make up Billy Strings’ band, “Meet Me at the Crypt” will feature “co-starring” appearances by decorated organist Cory Henry, all six members of Leftover Salmon (Alwyn Robinson, Vince Herman, Greg Garrison, Andy Thorn, Drew Emmitt, and Jay Starling), and “more.” The show will also feature cellist Adele Stein, viola player Celia Hatton, and violinist Adriana Molello as “The Charm City Coven.”
Billy Strings has made a habit of staging elaborate themed productions for his Halloween performances. For last year’s two-night celebration, which also took place at CFG Arena, Strings and company staged a guest-filled musical rendition of O Brother, Where Art Thou? before bringing the expanded cast back the following night for a live celebration of his 2024 album, Highway Prayers. Other previous Billy Strings Halloween spectacles have included 2023’s professional wrestling-themed “The Van Andel Scramble” in Van Andel, MI; 2022’s Lord of the Rings-themed “Away From the Shire” run in Asheville, NC; and 2021’s The Wizard of Oz-themed engagement, also in Asheville.
Of note, while previous Billy Strings Halloween themes have extended beyond 10/31 to the rest of the run, the 2025 “Meet Me at the Crypt” announcement appears to apply only to the Halloween night performance, leaving the band’s scheduled second night in Baltimore as something of a mystery.
