Recently, guitarists Billy Strings and Marcus King stopped by Nashville, TN’s Carter Vintage Guitars to record a cover of “Summertime”, originally written in 1935 for the American opera, Porgy and Bess.
Billy Strings took the vocal lead on “Summertime”, a tune that has been covered by the likes of Janis Joplin, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sam Cooke and more. For the special Nashville recording session, King played a 1954 Fender Telecaster electric, with Strings on a 1936 Martin 000-28 acoustic. The duo both got a chance to trade off soulful solos, surrounded by an abundance of classic guitars.
