Billy Strings (born William Apostol) has shared a full, pro-shot video of he and his band’s performance at Denver, CO’s Ogden Theatre back in 2019. The December 14th show marked night two of three consecutive performances at the venue and saw Strings debut a cover of The Stanley Brothers & The Clinch Mountain Boys‘ “Ralph’s Banjo Special”.
Set one saw Strings open with two tracks from 2019’s Home, “Taking Water” and “Hollow Heart”. A cover of Tony Rice‘s “Tipper” followed ahead of a jammed-out “While I’m Still Waiting Here”. “I’m Still Here” (John Hartford cover) came next, before the band segued to The Monkees‘ “Last Train To Clarksville” and the Billy Failing-penned “So Many Miles”. The Stanley Brothers & The Clinch Mountain Boys’ “Nobody’s Love Is Like Mine” preceded “Enough To Leave”, “Dust In A Baggie”, “Running” and the set-ending cover of Jackson Browne‘s “Running On Empty”.

Set two opened with the fan-favorite “Away From The Mire” , “Long Forgotten Dream”, and the aforementioned debut of The Stanley Brothers & The Clinch Mountain Boys’ “Ralph’s Banjo Special”. The band then moved into Bill Monroe‘s “My Sweet Blue Eyed Darling”, “Doin’ Things Right”, Jimmy Cliff‘s “Sitting In Limbo”, “Highway Hypnosis”, and the popular Robert Hunter/Jerry Garcia collaboration, “China Doll”, before “Meet Me At The Creek” ended the second frame. The band then came back to the stage around a single mic for an encore of Steve Young‘s “Seven Bridges Road”.
