Prior to the performance of the song from Black Pumas’ Grammy-nominated album, frontman Eric Burton delivered his own message to Biden and Harris saying that the band is, “Looking forward to a new sense of optimism, unity, and peace for all American people.”

With that, he strummed out the delicate opening guitar phrasings that sound off “Colors”. The song’s vivid imagery of waking up to a new day, taking in all of the vibrant colors of this newfound world, served as the perfect metaphor ahead of the presidential inauguration as millions of Americans place their hope in the new administration.
