Famed NYC jazz club Blue Note has announced the Fall schedule for Blue Note Streaming Live, the venue’s series of crowd-less, globally live-streamed concerts from its Greenwich Village stage. The series will feature 17 concerts from jazz legends who have been staples at Blue Note for over 40 years including John Scofield, Michel Camilo, Bill Frisell, Eddie Palmieri, and Joe Lovano, as well as new generation artists such as Keyon Harrold, Joey Alexander, Theo Croker, James Francies and more. The Blue Note Streaming Live series will continue through October 2020.
All performances for Blue Note Streaming Live will broadcast at 8:00 p.m. EDT. The sets will also be re-streamed at 11:00 p.m. the same day and at 8:00 p.m. Japan Local Time (7:00 a.m. EDT) and 8:00 p.m. Central European Time (2:00 p.m. EDT) the following day.
“NHK Cosmomedia America, a subsidiary of NHK Japan Broadcasting Corporation and long-time collaborator at Blue Note, has agreed to produce Blue Note Streaming Live,” explained Steven Bensusan, President of Blue Note Entertainment Group, in a press statement. “The quality of the live production with this partnership will be unsurpassed and I am looking forward to presenting the series alongside our Blue Note clubs and partners.”
The series also aims to foster the music fan’s connection to the artists and each other through several interactive features within the livestream experience. Ticket holders will have access to a chat feature found within the live feed where they can connect in real-time during the show.
“For both the artists and fans, a large part of experiencing an evening at the Blue Note is the energy from the audience. We are working to create moments for artists to connect with the fans directly and fans to connect with each other,” added Bensusan. “We will be announcing additional interactive features and unique partnerships that aim to capture that feeling of visiting a Blue Note jazz club, but now made accessible from home.”
“I don’t anticipate opening Blue Note New York anytime soon. In the meantime, we are going to present live shows from the Blue Note’s stage to our international audience using the streaming format,” Bensusan noted in a statement along with the Blue Note’s initial streaming series announcement. “The quality of the livestream experience is important to us, both in audio and video production and we will be working with a professional team using a multi-camera set-up to produce the series. We hope jazz music fans around the world will support our efforts to continue presenting the high quality, live music experiences that the Blue Note is known for.”
