Blue Note Jazz Festival will take its talents to Miami Beach with a pop-up event in June. The two-weekend, four-show series at North Beach Bandshell will host performances from George Clinton & Parliament FunkadelicBuika, and Robert Glasper with special guests.

The run kicks off on June 3rd with George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic. The concert will serve as part of Dr. Funkenstein’s upcoming One Nation Under A Groove Tour, which will feature support from The Motet featuring Shira Elias, Josh Schwartz, and Chris Brouwers (formerly of Turkuaz); Dopapod; and Pimps of Joytime.

On June 4th, Latin Grammy-winner Buika will take the stage. Born Concha Buika in 1972 in Palma de Mallorca, a city on the Balearic Island of Majorca, Spain, she is the daughter of a political exile from the former Spanish colony Equatorial Guinea, a small country in Africa. After getting her start singing in the clubs of Majorca and the neighboring Balearic Island of Ibiza, she broke through with her 2006 solo album Mi Niña Lola.

Finally, the Blue Note Jazz Festival North Beach Bandshell pop-up will wrap up with a two-night stint from Robert Glasper and an unspecified group of guests. The acclaimed pianist is bound by no genre, boasting four Grammys and eight nominations across seven categories. The third volume of his acclaimed Black Radio series, released back in February, hosts luminaries from hip-hop to jazz and beyond. His residencies at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York are just as diverse, welcoming surprise sit-ins by everyone from Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle to H.E.R.

“We’re very pleased to bring Blue Note Jazz Festival to Miami Beach featuring a star-studded array of iconic and important artists,” Blue Note’s Director of Programming Alex Kurland said in a statement. “With the challenges we’ve all gone through over the past year, we’re grateful to be able to present great music in a truly great community. Cheers to these extraordinary artists, and once more being able to present concerts by Blue Note in the greater Miami marketplace with our friends at the Rhythm Foundation at the famed North Beach Bandshell!”
