Blues Traveler has announced a series of 2023 tour dates along with a new limited edition double LP, Live and Acoustic: Fall of 1997, due out this spring.
Set to begin on April 25th at the Fox Theatre in Hutchinson, KS and extend through the end of May. According to press materials, the band perform many of the hits that defined its 36-year career, including “Run-Around”, “Hook”, and “But Anyway”, as well as songs from its latest Grammy-nominated album, 2021’s Traveler’s Blues, and improvisation-infused takes on classic blues songs by artists like Aretha Franklin, Freddie King, Big Mama Thornton, and Little Willie John.
Blues Traveler will also celebrate the release of Live and Acoustic: Fall of 1997, which features highlights from the band’s 1997 tour remastered from the original two-track soundboard recordings.
“This exclusive limited-edition double LP is a selection of many of the highlights from our legendary 1997 fall tour that produced the only acoustic sets that the original line up of Blues Traveler, including our beloved friend and bassist, Bobby Sheehan ever played on tour,” said guitarist Chan Kinchla. “These previously unheard and uncirculated tracks are remastered from the original 2-track soundboard recordings for the ultimate Blues Traveler live and acoustic experience.”
Both the album and the tour commemorate the 25th anniversary of Blues Traveler’s historic acoustic performances, which were inspired by the success of two acoustic shows the band played at Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit in October 1997. After that, the group played short acoustic sets between the first and second frames during the 1997 fall tour, which are featured on the album. It will be available on limited edition colored vinyl via Experience Vinyl. Pre-order the album here.
